Minot Restaurants: Critiques and Reviews

I found that the Primo Grand Restaurant in Minot has some decent reviews, so I decided to go and check it out myself.  For me, any excuse to go out to dinner (smiles)..  minot restaurants reviewer

Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Sunday brunch is from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  The dinner on Sunday is 3 p.m. – 9 p.m.  Btw, this restaurant can handle wedding receptions.  There is one young lady (I found on  TripAdvisor)  who chose food service for both the wedding reception, and a BUFFET the following morning.

This is a LARGE restaurant, and the seating is booths and table/chair combos.  Tablecloths are used, as well as fancy water glasses.  If you desire a cocktail before dinner, you can be served right at your table.

My review is as follows:

Nice ambience.  I had no complaints with the service, or the portions.  Our server (a very friendly Phillipina woman) was attentive to our needs.  She brought out some bread immediately – and with it, some freshly-squeezed herbs to dip the fancy bread in.  Dee-lightful !

                                                                                                scrambled-eggs

For my entree, I chose a breakfast option.  To be specific, bacon/scrambled eggs and hash browns; the hash browns were cooked to perfection.  They were browned, but not overdone.  I enjoyed my bacon, as it was of high quality.

My companion had the Prime Rib. He ordered it “medium rare”, and the chef did a bang-up job.  It was delicious (yes, of course I had a bite)!  Lawrence (my dining companion) had garlic mashed potatoes, as it accompanied the entree.  Scrumptious, he said.

The portions were so generous that I managed to have some food at the end – which I took up to my room at the Grand Hotel, and placed in the mini-frig.

Oh, one thing I left out – the Laphroaig scotch I ordered had a wonderful, smoky essence to it.  In case you don’t know, Laphroaig is a 10-year old single malt whiskey. In fact, the Grand Hotel Restaurant offers several scotches.

Vegan Food Ordering: How to Properly Word Your Request

    Framed-pic-Jan_ashby

Today I just want to SHARE with you an easy way to dine vegan – it obviously is meant for when you are dining out.

You can simply skip to the enlightening post – which tells you of several KEY tips to order a vegan dish  (or Read on…)

Btw, the guide below will advise you on how to “order vegan” at a Thai restaurant, a Mexican restaurant, a Japanese restaurant, Italian restaurant, a French restaurant, a steak restaurant, an american restaurant etc.

My name is Jan Ashby, and I live about an hour from Minot.  So I do try and share my discoveries from restaurants, as I can – I also take note of restaurants that really try and go the extra mile to accommodate their diner.

An example I have mentioned previously (in the post “Off The Vine: Minot Nightlife”  ) is Off the Vine – as this Minot ND establishment will sometimes create a meal, based on the customer’s suggestions or request.  The waiter will assist with wine recommendations, too – so you can pair your wine with your specific supper.

If you’d like to explore more about Minot nightlife, you can see the YELP reviews online or visit my section entitled “MINOT NIGHTLIFE” here .

While there are apps you can use to uncover some “vegan-friendly” restaurants close to you, you can’t count  on this – so it’s best to phone ahead.  That’s 1 of the tips in the Post I found.  The helpful site is called “Itdoesnttastelikechicken.com“.

*NOTE:  There are half a dozen tips or “advice” you should use before you ever visit the restaurant.  LOOK these over first – which includes a hint about Apps to use.

Another way for moms (& dads) to get some peace at the Dinner table is through popular apps – I found an iTunes Burger Games app you may like to employ:

>>  iTunes Apps for Kids – Burger Games Download (FREE)  <<

burger-games

Crazy Burger is in the TOP 100 apps in many nations, btw.  To get it free, VISIT THIS URL.

Now there are some BURGER GAMES” apps that are best suited to Older Children – for instance, there is a neat virtual McDonalds Business game, where a teen (or older child) gets to RUN the entire business!  It’s at this location:  McDonalds Burger games

It involves the following: Office of planning, Burger shop in front and factory processing, milk production, pasture and paddy fields.  The game is fairly interesting, as it’s totally up to the child to run a “profitable” business.

More Apps:  PLAY “Spot the Differences” – Here you are shown 2 images and must find 5 differences between the two.  It’s been “Google Plussed” about 529 times, and is RATED at 4.2 of 5.  It Requires Android 2.1 and up !
