Off the Vine – Good Selection of Wine and Beer

Minot Nightlife

by Jan Ashby

There is a nice selection of wine at Off the Vine

Who is this restaurant meant for?  Adults, and those wishing to mark an occasion or special event.

One of those Minot restaurants that is centrally located, it is on Main Street at 15 Main St South.  At Urbanspoon, this restaurant has achieved an 86 percent rating – which is unusually high for a Minot establishment.

The reason I can say it is rare to find this is I’ve lived in the Minot area for 9 years – and have been online since 2002. This hotspot is not a regular restaurant – it’s a place you go to unwind, visit or listen to music.  Off the Vine features tapas, a Spanish style of food  (small portions of food served as an accompaniment to wine).

Tapas are small portions (cheese, olives) that get served with wine.  There are 3 sorts of tapas – cazuelas, a messy form of tapas (served in a sauce), cosas de picar – which is finger food, and pinchos – which is a kind of tapas served with some sort of utensil, and is oft served with colorful toothpicks.

Minot Restaurants Wine Selection

Wine Selection:  Is it Extensive?

Glad you asked – it is a pretty amazing selection –

Wine from Australia, Ireland (O’Reilly’s Caramel Cream, O’Reilly’s Irish Cream, Mint Chocolate & White Choc.), Holland (Dutch Chocolate Red Wine), California( Pinot Grigio, Gewurztraminer), France (Dom Perignon,Louis Jadot Pouilly Fuisse), Napa Valley (Robert Mondavi’s Fume Blanc), Idaho (Riesling- late harvest), Washington (Pinot Gris), Spain (Cava), Italy (Martini & Rossi Asti Spumante).

Germany (Beerenauslese Eiswein Riesling), Portugal (Tawny Port), Napa Valley (Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon), North Dakota (Point of View Rhubarb), and Sonoma CA (Chateau St. Jean Chardonnay). The rhubarb wine is delicious – of course I enjoy a fruity wine.

If you like a red wine with a full body, I suggest the Australian Hardy’s Stamp – a Cabernet Sauvignon offered at Off the Vine.  The cabernet from JustinVineyards is top notch – if you have a fat wallet, or are celebrating a unique occasion then go for this Cabernet Sauvignon !
